WEDNESDAY, 11-11-2009

Starting with the chimes of Big Ben coming discreetly from a car radio, six of us stood for two minutes reflective silence at 11 o'clock today, in front of the Purse Caundle War Memorial.
Two had family members killed in WW1. One gentleman had an uncle die in France, and I lost a navy grandfather drowned at sea on 22nd September 1914 (but that is a story to itself).
Regretfully, an elderly lady related to one of the four names (Ashford) commemorated on this war memorial was unable to attend.
