PURSE CAUNDLE HISTORY DAY 2009 - ADDITIONAL
This photograph was taken at the end of the hectic day. The Lord of the Manor, with the Chairman of the Parish Council who had organised the Village Picnic, are holding one of the Exhibition's display boards.
This was the PRE-CONQUEST board, showing photographs of the fossilised remains of a Jurassic crocodile found in the village; a postcard of part of the Lord's Prayer in Saxon language; some Saxon coins; and depictions of Saxon Thegns who held CANDEL before the Conquest.
As a result of the Exhibition's publicity and feedback, interviews are continuing with interested current and ex-villagers, and exciting information being obtained.
Updating of the 'History' has started, and will soon begin to be placed in the appropriate blog to replace the previous postings.
